So this past weekend, I went to see Porgy and Bess at the Peace Center Theater! It was an awesome musical! What made it even better was the fact that the story is based out of my hometown of Charleston, SC. As some of you may know, my New Year’s Journey is centered on the following theme… to expand, explore, and experience. Taking the time to explore different things such as seeing a musical is a great way to enhance your life experiences. It exposes you to new people, places, interests, and ideas. I truly believe that once you reach out and touch the world around you, you will discover how to impact the world around you; thus, getting one step closer to living out your God-given purpose. When the opportunity knocks to try something positive and new, whether it be attending a Broadway play or skiing the slopes, open the door! You never know what new things you’ll discover about yourself when you do! What new things/experiences do you have lined up for this year?!
Hey ladies and gents!! As we embark on a new week, we may encounter some obstacles in our path. It could be something as small as waking up late, or as big as having a major financial crisis. Now anybody who knows me, knows without a shadow of a doubt, that I believe in positive thinking and the power of the tongue. With that being said, I am in NO WAY wanting those things or any other negative thing to happen to you this week! I do and will continue to, pray blessings over your life! I mention these things in order to set the stage for what’s to come . If you’re visiting this blog, you must have some interest in living and enjoying your gift, your life, your passion, your purpose. When I scroll through any of my social media pages, I see so many people working on living their lives to the fullest. Many are investing in a new hobby, becoming physical fit, seeking spiritual growth, working on entrepreneurial pursuits, advancing professionally, and so much more! During our pursuits, whatever they may be, we will run into setbacks and possibly get knocked down. However, don’t let setbacks and knock downs keep you back or keep you down!
When we run into not-so-pleasant situations, many of us become cautious…cautious of people, situations, etc. While at times it is smart to be cautious, don’t let that cautiousness transform into fear. Fear will stop you dead in your tracks! Even though the road might get rough, we have to travel that road to get to our destination. The only way to travel is to move! Fear will serve no other purpose but to stop you from moving. So I wanted to leave you with this, when you feel fear beginning to creep into your psyche, begin to dance! I know you are probably thinking… what the heck?! Dance?! Yeah I said it, DANCE! You dance by being OPTIMISTIC! Optimism is like a celebration going on in your mind! It’s an understanding that taking a step backward after taking a step forward is not a disaster, it’s a Cha-Cha!! Remember, it’s all in the way you look at things! So Cha-Cha slide around that obstacle and keep on moving!! Have a WONDERFUL week!!
Appreciate the journey…Appreciate the moment. You may not have gotten from point A to Z this week, but you can still find joy in making it from point A to B! Small steps are still movements!! Have a blessed weekend!! #TGIF
I’ve never been to fond of forced ideas or ways of doing things. So instead of writing a New Year’s Resolution post on January 1st, I’m deciding to do a post near the end of the 1st month of the year! LOL! Just to give a little background, I’ve always been a bookworm, always made good grades in school, etc. But despite my studious ways, in college, I never liked to study at the library! I would only go to the library when absolutely necessary. This was not because anything was wrong with studying at the library, but because the library put too much pressure on me to focus and I was already stressed enough from either preparing for a test or completing a paper/assignment! I say all that to say this… I feel that the hype behind creating a New Year’s Resolution puts too much pressure on people to create this worthy, impressive, life-altering resolution that most of us, by the time you’ve read this, have already broken! The definition of resolution is a firm decision to do or not to do something. But how are you going about doing something or not doing something?? The word “resolution” tends to make us focus heavily on the destination, but not on the “how”…the journey to get there. The journey includes steps, leaps, twists and turns, setbacks, smooth places, rough patches, and the list goes on and on. When those 20 lbs. are lost, that money is saved, new house or car is bought, new business is off the ground, etc. we relish in our achievements…or do we?? I believe that we are not relishing in the actual achievement, but the act of achieving. Achieving is the doing part, the part where we sacrificed, committed, put in the hard work to get to the point of achievement. It’s the joy in saying that “I came, I saw, I conquered!” I realized what I wanted, saw/recognized what it took to get there, and got there! We’re proud and satisfied within our being because we stuck it out and maneuvered through the terrains of our journey to reach our “resolution”. This year don’t get overly consumed with the “resolution” but with the “journey.” It is the mapping out of the journey and sticking to it that really matters and deserves our full attention. This year I’m heading out on a journey to expand, explore, and experience. I am on a journey to find my passions, my purpose, and my unadulterated love for myself. Unadulterated love- Love that pays no mind to flaws, but finds beauty and purpose in “imperfections.” How are you going to reach your resolution…What is your New Year’s Journey??

Happy Friday! Be Blessed!!
During the process of revamping my blog/site, I’ve had days where I’ve been totally pumped with lots of ideas on topics to write about and share! On the other hand, I’ve had days where I’ve doubted whether or not people really wanted to hear what I had to say! For those of you who follow me on Instagram, Twitter, and or Facebook, I usually post daily motivational/inspirational quotes. Today, I decided to post this quote by Henry Ford: “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, YOU’RE RIGHT!” Once I read it, it really hit home for me, thus the reason behind this post! It reminded me that we are all capable of doing our HEART’S desire, but it’s our MIND that holds us back!
Every time I start to think that people are not interested in what I have to say, guess what happens?? I get writer’s block…it never fails!! When you really think about it, this happens in every aspect of life. Whatever you think/say manifest itself in reality. If you keep thinking you can’t find a good man/woman, you are less likely to find one. If you keep saying you’re broke, you’re more likely to stay broke. The list can go on and on! With that being said, let me leave you with this:
Whatever YOU Think, you will do, and whatever YOU Do, YOU will BECOME!! Therefore YOU will always be RIGHT because your OUTCOME is always dependent on what you THINK!!
So the question is… What are YOU CHOOSING to be RIGHT about!!
As some of you may know, the name of my original site was “What Now Life?”. Well I’ve answered the question of “What Now Life?” and it is “Elle Zsanee,” my NEW site!!
