Happy Friday!!! Enjoy your weekend and most of all ENJOY LIFE!! Hopefully these simple rules will help you along the way!
My company recently had a Chili Cook-Off where you could entire either a chili dish or a concoction into the competition. My team decided to get creative and make a dessert concoction that resembled chili… it was called “Chilly Chili”!! And let me tell you… it was delicious!!! We adapted the recipe from the blog Because I’m Me . We won 1st place in the Concoction Category and 2nd place in the Presentation Category! Well , it’s finally Friday; and I don’t know about you, but it’s been a long week! Sometimes we get so caught up in the everyday hustle and bustle , that we forget to relax!! Relaxing is an essential part of life. In life we need balance, and you know what they say…too much of one thing (such as work!) is never good! So make sure you take at least a few moments this weekend to relax and possibly enjoy some “Chilly Chili”!! See pictures of the award winning “Chilly Chili” below!
*We only used vanilla and chocolate pudding
*We replaced the Boston Baked Beans candy with chocolate M&Ms (just in case someone had peanut allergies)
* We created Cinnamon Tortilla Chips to dip into our “chilly chili” (very tasty!)
Have a Blessed and Relaxing Weekend!!
Yesterday morning on the way to work, I almost caused a major accident! I decided to take a different route to work since the interstate traffic was backed up into the main highway. It was the second time this week that it rained during the morning hours, and this was the second time that there had been a backup. Due to this, and the fact that I was already pressed for time, I went another way. While sitting at the light of a major intersection, I accidently start to drive forward thinking that the light had turned green…but to my surprise it had not! Have you ever been at a light and automatically assumed that the light had turned green because the traffic opposite of you had started moving?? Well…that was me. The light had turned green, but only for the turning lane! So there I was, maybe a couple of feet away from a line of turning cars in the middle of the road!! After a moment of shock, I reversed my car and waited for the light to turn green before moving again. But before this happened, while sitting at the light, I had decided to check my phone. I always thought that it was safer to use your phone at a stop light than while driving, but obviously, I proved myself wrong. Even though you’re physically stopped, a cell phone can still divert your attention. If I hadn’t checked my phone, I would’ve been more aware of the stop light before moving. With that being said, I would like to share with you my 3 takeaways from the morning’s event:
- INVEST in a hands free cell phone device or DO NOT engage in any cell phone activities while on the road, regardless of if you’re driving or physically stopped. Here are a couple of hands free devices you can try.
- PRAY! Every morning I pray for my family, friends, myself, and the world in general. I always pray for traveling mercies, and He came through for me big time! They say that God watches over babies and fools, and I was definitely the fool!
- Our lives have PURPOSE! The fact that I am able to write this post is a miracle in itself; I and others could have died yesterday. God saw fit to spare our lives, which is proof that we are all put here for a purpose. He will not be satisfied until our purpose is fulfilled; therefore, it is our duty to continually push toward finding and living out our gift…our purpose!
Be Safe and Be Blessed
So this past weekend, I went to see Porgy and Bess at the Peace Center Theater! It was an awesome musical! What made it even better was the fact that the story is based out of my hometown of Charleston, SC. As some of you may know, my New Year’s Journey is centered on the following theme… to expand, explore, and experience. Taking the time to explore different things such as seeing a musical is a great way to enhance your life experiences. It exposes you to new people, places, interests, and ideas. I truly believe that once you reach out and touch the world around you, you will discover how to impact the world around you; thus, getting one step closer to living out your God-given purpose. When the opportunity knocks to try something positive and new, whether it be attending a Broadway play or skiing the slopes, open the door! You never know what new things you’ll discover about yourself when you do! What new things/experiences do you have lined up for this year?!
Hey ladies and gents!! As we embark on a new week, we may encounter some obstacles in our path. It could be something as small as waking up late, or as big as having a major financial crisis. Now anybody who knows me, knows without a shadow of a doubt, that I believe in positive thinking and the power of the tongue. With that being said, I am in NO WAY wanting those things or any other negative thing to happen to you this week! I do and will continue to, pray blessings over your life! I mention these things in order to set the stage for what’s to come . If you’re visiting this blog, you must have some interest in living and enjoying your gift, your life, your passion, your purpose. When I scroll through any of my social media pages, I see so many people working on living their lives to the fullest. Many are investing in a new hobby, becoming physical fit, seeking spiritual growth, working on entrepreneurial pursuits, advancing professionally, and so much more! During our pursuits, whatever they may be, we will run into setbacks and possibly get knocked down. However, don’t let setbacks and knock downs keep you back or keep you down!
When we run into not-so-pleasant situations, many of us become cautious…cautious of people, situations, etc. While at times it is smart to be cautious, don’t let that cautiousness transform into fear. Fear will stop you dead in your tracks! Even though the road might get rough, we have to travel that road to get to our destination. The only way to travel is to move! Fear will serve no other purpose but to stop you from moving. So I wanted to leave you with this, when you feel fear beginning to creep into your psyche, begin to dance! I know you are probably thinking… what the heck?! Dance?! Yeah I said it, DANCE! You dance by being OPTIMISTIC! Optimism is like a celebration going on in your mind! It’s an understanding that taking a step backward after taking a step forward is not a disaster, it’s a Cha-Cha!! Remember, it’s all in the way you look at things! So Cha-Cha slide around that obstacle and keep on moving!! Have a WONDERFUL week!!
During the process of revamping my blog/site, I’ve had days where I’ve been totally pumped with lots of ideas on topics to write about and share! On the other hand, I’ve had days where I’ve doubted whether or not people really wanted to hear what I had to say! For those of you who follow me on Instagram, Twitter, and or Facebook, I usually post daily motivational/inspirational quotes. Today, I decided to post this quote by Henry Ford: “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, YOU’RE RIGHT!” Once I read it, it really hit home for me, thus the reason behind this post! It reminded me that we are all capable of doing our HEART’S desire, but it’s our MIND that holds us back!
Every time I start to think that people are not interested in what I have to say, guess what happens?? I get writer’s block…it never fails!! When you really think about it, this happens in every aspect of life. Whatever you think/say manifest itself in reality. If you keep thinking you can’t find a good man/woman, you are less likely to find one. If you keep saying you’re broke, you’re more likely to stay broke. The list can go on and on! With that being said, let me leave you with this:
Whatever YOU Think, you will do, and whatever YOU Do, YOU will BECOME!! Therefore YOU will always be RIGHT because your OUTCOME is always dependent on what you THINK!!
So the question is… What are YOU CHOOSING to be RIGHT about!!
